Christmas bauble:  Historic Santa Claus

Traditional motif meets traditional form: There are plenty of representations of Santa Claus. Large, small, colorfully decorated, modern or antique. If you look at the history of Christmas tree decorations, one in particular has stood the test of time: this one.

Like a small cone, slightly conical and stylized, the historic Santa Claus dangles from his golden crown. The typical hat with the broad, glittering white fur brim on the venerable head; the matching little coat underneath, which ends in a blunt, snow-white glittered lace. The gift bringer wears his warm winter clothing in a dull shade of red; festive and elegant. Dark green mittens form a successful contrast. What are they clutching in front of his stomach? A fresh green, small fir tree that invites you to dream just as much as the view from the delicately painted blue eyes in Santa's silver-white face.
