Christmas bauble:  Popeye

Who doesn't know him? The unconventional comic sailor who gets his strength from spinach, impresses with his muscular arms and always has "nen Böhm auf'm Zahn", i.e. a pipe stuck in the corner of his mouth? That's right, we're talking about Popeye, of course, who was invented by cartoonist Elzie Segar back in 1929 and first printed in an American newspaper. Since then, he has become one of the most popular character heads in the global cartoon universe and can now be hung in the Christmas tree by fans as a glass figure.

Striking is probably the best way to describe the expression on his unconventionally pinched face, which has been applied to his delicate pink head with careful brushstrokes in the usual one-eye-on-the-other manner. The wide mouth under the bulbous nose is also wonderfully crooked. One corner of his mouth is grinning, the other has a delicate, translucent golden-orange pipe in it. Popeye's tattooed arms are not only gripping his pelvis, they are also raised with a certain pride. As if he wanted to show off his pretty sailor outfit: The shirt, decorated with the typical collar and gold and white buttons, shines blue, and the belt buckle is also set in a glittering gold colour. The trousers and cap have also been dusted with white glitter for a Christmassy touch.
