Christmas bauble:  Zeppelin

Do you know the difference between a real zeppelin and a blimp, also known as a bouncing airship among experts? While a classic zeppelin has an internal skeleton that gives the hull its shape, blimps, like hot air balloons, have a soft shell that is moulded into shape by a slightly increased internal pressure.

The shimmering silver glass figure, on which the name Zeppelin is emblazoned in glittering blue capital letters, is therefore not strictly speaking a zeppelin at all, even though its outer elliptical shape bears a strong resemblance to it. Nevertheless, aviation enthusiasts will simply love this magnificent piece. The interplay of silver and blue tones is too elegant; the contours, the windows and the silvery glitter dust on the top have been applied too delicately.
