Christmas bauble:  Brick

Hardly any other building material is as deeply rooted in our cultural history as the brick. Thousands of years ago, people discovered that fired clay is dimensionally stable, weather-resistant, and nearly indestructible—an invention that laid the foundation for cities, cathedrals, and entire civilizations. To this day, the brick stands for down-to-earth values, craftsmanship, and authentic building culture, whether in an industrial-style loft apartment, an English row house neighborhood, or a classic factory. Its characteristic holes—which make it both lighter and more stable—reveal the discerning eye of a true connoisseur of building materials. Anyone who knows homebuilders, architects, or DIY enthusiasts will recognize that behind this unassuming block lies a wealth of tradition and a solid foundation.

The figure is designed as a classic perforated brick—rectangular and compact, with three deep, dark recesses along the long side. The surface, in a warm reddish-brown hue, is textured and enhanced with a subtle shimmer in copper and bronze tones.
