Christmas bauble:  Historic hot air balloon

Balloon travel has fascinated us ever since it was invented in the 1780s. Despite all the modern technology that has been added since then. No wonder, because the elegant floating of a hot air balloon gliding silently through the sky is just as impressive as the complete dependence on wind currents and the skill or experience of the pilot. And even if most of the current balloons are now often used primarily for advertising purposes, we still like to look back and dream nostalgically of this magnificent specimen, which - if you look at its cargo in the basket - appears to be used by Santa Claus to transport his colorfully wrapped gifts around the globe:

In the typical Christmas colors of red, white and green, the balloon envelope has been lavishly decorated sometimes in a striped design, sometimes with an elaborate flower, and elsewhere with white glitter snowflakes on a red background. Golden and green glitter lines form sparkling contours. Golden fabrics draped all around also testify to opulence. Special highlights: the glued-on golden wire rods, which also connect the balloon to the basket and add plenty of retro charm.
