Have you ever been there? The Rialto Bridge in Venice is probably one of the most famous buildings in the city and attracts millions of visitors every year. Some simply want to cross the Grand Canal, while others browse through the numerous stores selling souvenirs and gifts.
It has spanned the Grand Canal since the 16th century. The two abutments of the bridge each rest on 6000 wooden piles in the lagoon off Venice. Hopefully a structure for eternity.
The figure is a little more colorful than the original bridge. The walls are a warm beige and the roof shines in a maritime blue. Fine glitter lines hint at the brickwork. The typical arches of the vaulted ceilings of the stores are just as easily recognizable as the railings. The space under the bridge arch is kept in a shimmering gray, which gives a hint of the passage on the canal. Truly a small masterpiece of precision and simplification.
